Geriatric & Elderly

You who are more than 65 years old and who need help with taking care of your personal and practical every day tasks can get help and support by the Geriatric care. It may be home help service, food service, security alarm, accommodation for the elderly and/or home care. We also give support to relative caregivers and in some cases nursing and care of younger people with functional limitations.

Our activity is regulated by the Social Services act (SoL), the Health and Medical Services act (HSL) and the act concerning Support and Service for Persons with Certain Functional Impairments (LSS).

The care of the elderly also organises meeting places and activities for elderly at various senior get-togethers throughout the municipality.

What kind of help are you entitled to?

If you need any kind of support or help, you should turn to the municipality’s assistance handling officers, who investigate your need and make a decision about what kind of help you are entitled to. If your application is not granted, you have the right to be informed in writing about why, as well as instructions on how to appeal.
